Engendering the spirit of Ubuntu and consciously making the decision to extend a helping hand to fellow man so that others can attain their personal potential is the first guiding parameter as an Earth Ambassador. Ubuntu means ‘humanity to others’. It also means ‘I am what I am because of who we all are. Nelson Mandela explained Ubuntu as follows: Video clip: Ubuntu told by Nelson Mandela ENVIRONMENT the second guiding parameter for us as ambassadors of the earth is positive environmental consideration. Our environment is made up of everything that surrounds us, the people, the animals, the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, where we stay, our homes, land, light temperature and other living and non-living things. Living things do not simply exist in their environment. They constantly interact with it. The environment consists of the interactions among plants, animals, soil, water, temperature, light, and other living and non-living things. Our decision making process is guided by what will create a better life for all the people of this country and the world as a whole. SUSTAINABILITY “Poverty is not an accident. Like slavery and apartheid it is man-made and can be removed by the actions of human beings. Nelson Mandela |
